Maryland Point Light was a screw-pile lighthouse built in the Potomac River to mark a shoal at Maryland Point. Although a light there was first proposed in 1887 and funding arrived in 1890, engineers changed from an initially considered caisson design after riverbed tests showed a screw-pile structure would be suitable. The lighthouse was assembled at the Lazaretto Depot in the fall of 1892, and its light was first displayed that December. It served for much of the 20th century before being automated in 1954 and dismantled in 1963, leaving the original structure no longer extant.
