Fallen heroes of the attacks are remembered through three places and their words: Shanksville in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, where “They saved many lives…,” the World Trade Center in New York City, where “All were innocent, all were heroes,” in the words of Rudolph Giuliani, former mayor of New York City, and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., where “The country's enormous projector is wounded.”
