Pike State Forest is a 4,444-acre protected area in Pike County in southwestern Indiana near Winslow, with the Patoka River shaping its hills and low-lying ground. The forest was assembled gradually from the 1930s through the 1950s, and many of its buildings and facilities were constructed by the Works Progress Administration with local timber, tying it to New Deal public works that developed parks and forests across the United States. Managed today by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, its administration has been handled through nearby Ferdinand State Forest since 1997.
