Homewood Mountain Resort
Nature
Homewood Mountain Resort is a Lake Tahoe ski area on the west shore near Tahoe City, known for lake views, protected snow, and terrain ranging from beginner to expert. Its east-facing slopes and shielding by Ellis Peak help reduce exposure to Sierra Crest winds, contributing to reliable powder, about 400 inches of annual snowfall, and many sunny days. The mountain has also opened in summer for hiking and mountain biking, though without lift service or on-site lodging. Since Jeff Yurosek sold it to JMA Ventures in 2006, Homewood's recent history has centered on disputed redevelopment plans, lengthy environmental review, and its decision not to open for the 2024–25 ski season.
