Teton Pass Ski Area is a small alpine resort on Montana’s Rocky Mountain Front between Choteau and the Continental Divide, where rugged weather and inconsistent snow have long shaped skiing. Known as Rocky Mountain Hi in the 1990s, it later became Teton Pass Ski Area. After Nick Wood bought it in 2010, the resort struggled, failing to open for the 2011–12 season because it lacked insurance, then closing again in 2017 before Charles Hlavac bought it in 2019. Its repeated shutdowns, discounted sale price, and shortened 2023–2024 season show the difficulty of operating there, even as it remains active in Montana skiing culture through ski mountaineering events and wider media attention.
