Built in 1866 for Mary Agatha West Norwood, this house was purchased in 1903 by the Administrators of the Tulane Educational Fund to serve as a residence hall for students of H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College, the college for women within Tulane University. It was named Warren House in memory of Warren Newcomb, the deceased husband of Josephine Louise Newcomb, benefactress of the college. In 1918, the college moved to its home on Broadway Avenue, and a new Warren House was constructed in 1928.
