Placed in the belltower of the Logan County Courthouse in 1905, this bell was made by the American Bell and Foundry Company of Northville, Michigan, and weighs approximately 2000 pounds. After the courthouse burned in 1912, the same bell was installed in the new courthouse belltower that year. It remained there to ring out the victories of World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and West Virginia's Centennial Celebration in 1963. When the courthouse, in dire need of repair, was torn down in 1963 and replaced by a modern building, Sidney W. Ferrell saved the bell and brought it to Chief Logan State Park. The bell became a Logan County landmark and is dedicated to Sidney W. Ferrell and the citizens of Logan County.
