Park’s Mill was likely built around the time Morgan County was created by the Georgia Legislature in 1807 on the banks of the Oconee River, in an area whose boundary shifted several times between Greene County and Morgan County during the 19th century. By 1839 the site was identified in Morgan County as Parks Bridge, and by 1919 it appeared in Greene County as Parks Ferry. Along with a grist mill and ferry, the site included the Park family home, which also served travelers on this route as a general store, tavern, and inn. Around the turn of the century it was a post office site, though records suggest the place was known as Riverside because of its location on the Oconee River. In the 19th century it was an important early route for travel between Greene and Morgan Counties, but by the 1930s the mill and dam had collapsed. When Lake Oconee was created, the house was moved to Woods Road in Morgan County.
