In a circa 1910 view of Dock Street in Schuylkill Haven, homes stood across the street while a lone horse and buggy traveled the dirt roadway, which was not fully being paved until 1913. Further down the street, the steeple of Saint James Episcopal Church rose on the right side. Built in 1839, it is Schuylkill Haven's oldest church building, and its bell was cast by the same foundry that cast the Liberty Bell.
