Hollister Peak is a 1,404-foot volcanic plug near Morro Bay on California’s Central Coast and one of the distinctive Nine Sisters peaks. Named for the Hollister family, who lived at its base in 1884, it combines notable geologic character with deep cultural significance. Long before its later name, the Chumash regarded the peak as a place of religious importance. Its prominence in the landscape reflects both natural history and human history in the region. Although it remains a striking landmark, Hollister Peak stands on private property and is not open to public access.
