Yellow Spring Township honored its brave soldiers who died in the service of their country and their comrades, dedicating this remembrance on July 4, 1866. The dead named from the township served in Company C of the 30th Iowa Infantry, the 11th Iowa Infantry, Company F of the 16th Iowa Infantry, Company C of the 39th Infantry, Company G of the 45th Iowa Infantry, Company I of the 1st Engineer Regiment, Company F of the 16th Illinois Infantry, Company D of the 8th Iowa Cavalry, Company I of the 6th Infantry, the First Battery, the 2nd Iowa Cavalry, Company K of the 14th Iowa Infantry, and the 11th U.S. Infantry.
