Built circa 1790 by James Finley, a Revolutionary War soldier, farmer, businessman, and one of the first justices of Franklin County, the James Finley House is an excellent example of rural vernacular architecture. The stone portion of the house is Georgian, while the brick addition added in 1849 by later owner George Bollinger reflects the style of American Gothic. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the house exemplifies the changing tastes of a growing nation and now serves as the residence of the Commanding Officer of Letterkenny Army Depot.
