Jeffersontown Historical Museum preserves the story of Jeffersontown, Kentucky, from its rural beginnings around a town square to its later growth, through artifacts and documents tied to local residents across generations. It began in 1972 as a small collection at City Hall, closed in 1982 after thefts, and reopened under city direction in 1996 in the library building. Renovations in 1997 and 2000 expanded exhibit space, and digitization began in 2011 to widen access. Its holdings include photographs, textiles, rare books, costumes, an old train depot sign, copies of the Jeffersonian, and a notable collection of more than 1,250 dolls.
