Three generations of the Freligh family served in the United States military. CMSGT Gerald C Freligh Sr. served in the USAF during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam from November 13, 1941 to July 1, 1974, and received the BSM, AFCM, and MSM. Maj. Gerald C. Freligh Jr. served in the USA from September 29, 1978 to September 29, 1995 in Special Forces as a Green Beret in the USA, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, and received the MSM, JSCM, ARCOM, and NDSN. Cpl. David L Freligh served in the USMC from February 2, 1983 to November 29, 1988 with 3rd IAAM Bn, MACG 28, 2nd MAW in the USA at MCAS Cherry Point, NC, and received the LCM and MUC.
