The Brown Site is an archaeological village site along the Pine River near Tyler Road south of Alma College in Michigan. Located on a sandy point beside a small creek, it preserves remains from the late Woodland period dating to about AD 1000. Researchers from Alma College discovered it in 1976 during a survey of the Pine River watershed, and excavations in 1977 and 1979 identified a village covering about 0.8 acres. Its importance lies in the evidence it provides of Native settlement in the region roughly a thousand years ago, leading to its listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
