Hadley Mountain, in the southern Adirondacks of New York, is the highest peak on the West Mountain ridge and the second-highest summit in Saratoga County after nearby Tenant Mountain. It is especially known for the Hadley Mountain Fire Observation Station, whose summit perch offers sweeping views over surrounding mountains and Great Sacandaga Lake. Long popular for a short, steep hike, the mountain also reflects the region’s forest fire history: a wooden fire tower was built in 1916, later replaced by a steel structure, and the site included a staffed ranger’s cabin. Decommissioned in 1990, the tower was restored in 1996 and later recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.
