The Washita County Courthouse was built in Cordell, with construction beginning in 1910 and completed in 1911. It was listed in the National Register of Historical Buildings in the United States in 1985. At that time, Floyd Craig was mayor of Cordell, and the Washita County commissioners were Gene Etris, Alfred Miller, and Raymond Hoefar.
