Danskammer Point Light
Transportation
Danskammer Point Light stood on Danskammer Point in the Town of Newburgh, New York, on the bank of the Hudson River, where it marked a prominent point and aided navigation along that stretch of the river. The lighthouse no longer survives. It was later demolished, and the site is now occupied by the Danskammer Generating Station. One of the few surviving glimpses of its working life appears in a 1934 Lighthouse Service Bulletin, which recorded that the light station was struck by lightning in a report by keeper James H. Wiest.
