Hickory Knob State Resort Park, on Lake Strom Thurmond near McCormick, is South Carolina’s only resort park, combining lakeside recreation with lodging, dining, and an eighteen-hole golf course. Designed for both day use and extended stays, it offers picnicking, fishing, boating, swimming, biking, camping, and rentals for canoes, kayaks, and fishing gear, along with courts, play areas, archery, and skeet shooting by reservation. Overnight choices include tent and RV campsites, lodge rooms, cabins, and a group lodge. The park also includes the Guillebeau House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and moved there around 1983.
