Kinzua Bridge State Park preserves the site of the Kinzua Bridge over Kinzua Creek near Mount Jewett, where the remains of a famed railroad viaduct and a rebuilt deck anchor the park. First built for the Erie Railroad in 1882, the bridge rose 301 feet above the valley and was then the highest railway bridge in the world. The current bridge dates to 1900, and the park was created in 1963. Excursion trains crossed the span from 1987 until its closure in 2002. After an F-1 tornado in 2003 toppled 11 spans, the surviving section reopened in 2011 as the Kinzua Bridge Skywalk.
