Abigail, wife of General Daniel Morgan, died in 1816 and was buried in the family cemetery one-half mile south. Her husband, one of Washington's chief strategists during the Amer. Revolution, campaigned from Boston and Quebec in 1775 to the Carolinas in 1781. After Morgan's death and burial in Va. in 1802, Mrs. Morgan came here and lived in this area about 10 years.
