Knight's Spider Web Farm in Williamstown, Vermont, became a distinctive small art venture by transforming whole spider webs into finished artworks. Founded by Will Knight in 1978 after experiments begun with his wife in 1977, it used spiders' fresh webs from sheds behind the house, mounting them onto painted or stained wooden boards and sealing them with lacquer. Knight drew on inspiration from the Girl Scout Manual, his wife's decoupage background, and his own cabinetmaking experience. The pieces, each unique, were sold at craft fairs, through the farm's gift shop, and online. After Knight's death in 2017, his family continued the work.
