Wagener, born July 21, 1816, and died August 27, 1876. The German Artillery Company A, German Artillery Company B, the German Volunteers, Hampton Legion, and the German Hussars took part in battles and engagements including Morris Island, Port Royal, Cockpit Point, West Point, Mechanicsville, Gaines' Mill, Meyer's Farm, Frazer's Farm, Malvern Hill, Second Battle of Manassas, Boonsboro Gap, Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, Suffolk, Gettysburg, Ogeechee, Coosawhatchie, Toogoodoo, Tulifinne, the siege of Charleston, and Fayetteville.
