Forts and batteries engaged in the defense included Fort Sumter, Fort Moultrie, Fort Johnson, Fort Pemberton, Batteries Wagner, Gregg, Rutledge, Marion, Bee, Simkins, Marshall, Haskell, and Beauregard, Steven's Iron Clad Battery, the Floating Battery, and Battery Lamar at Secessionville.
