Washington Crossing State Park in New Jersey preserves the site at Johnson’s Ferry where George Washington and about 2,400 Continental Army troops crossed the Delaware on December 25–26, 1776, before the surprise attack on Trenton, a turning point in the American Revolution. Part of the larger Washington’s Crossing National Historic Landmark area with its Pennsylvania counterpart, the park includes historic buildings such as the Johnson Ferry House and Nelson House, museum exhibits on the Revolution and the Ten Crucial Days campaign, and protected natural and scenic areas including Goat Hill Overlook, blending Revolutionary War history with recreation, education, and landscape conservation.
