Blackwater River State Park in Florida preserves a stretch of the Blackwater River landscape valued for its natural character while also serving as a destination for day use and overnight stays. In 1980, it was designated a Registered State Natural Feature for its exceptional value in illustrating Florida’s natural history. In 1982, an Atlantic white cedar in the park was recognized as a Florida Champion tree as one of the largest and oldest known examples of its species. The park is now especially known for quiet outdoor recreation, including paddling, fishing, swimming, hiking, birding, wildlife viewing, picnicking, and camping.
