Brookfield Renewable combines 100 years of operating experience as a developer, owner, and operator of renewable power facilities with environmental stewardship and commitments to health, safety, security, and the environment, providing clean and renewable energy in 13 states and three provinces across North America while emphasizing accountability, partnership, communication, and the long-term sustainability of natural resources. The construction of Safe Harbor Dam was completed in 1930, creating Lake Clarke, and energy production began in 1931 with the facility able to generate 417 megawatts of clean, renewable energy. The Safe Harbor area is presented as a bird-watching site where observers may see Osprey, Bald Eagles, Great Egrets, Ring-Billed Gulls, Great Blue Herons, Peregrine Falcons, Red-Tailed Hawks, and Common Mergansers, with notes on their habits, seasonal presence, and local significance along the Lower Susquehanna River.
