Bull Hill, also called Mount Taurus, is a 1,420-foot mountain in New York’s Hudson Highlands north of Cold Spring on the Hudson River. Although less celebrated than nearby Breakneck Ridge and Storm King Mountain, it shares the same striking highland scenery along this part of the river and rises higher than either of them. Its distinctive name comes from a local tradition in which a bull that had terrorized the mountain was pursued by residents and a hunting party, driven over the hill, and killed on the rocks below. Now part of Hudson Highlands State Park, Bull Hill is valued for its trails and summit views of the river and surrounding peaks.
