Around 1910, the end of North Hartford Avenue stood in a community whose economy had been boosted by the arrival of the Cleveland, Akron and Columbus Railroad in 1873. Many local farmers invested heavily to bring the railroad to the area. It was used primarily for passengers and some freight traffic, later became part of the Pennsylvania System, and stopped running in the early 1970's. The railroad bed is now the Heart of Ohio Trail.
