Wright Court House and Richmond Court House served old Surry County. The Wright Court House site is located one mile south, and the Richmond Court House site is located one mile northeast. Andrew Jackson, seventh President of the United States, was admitted to the bar to practice law in Surry County at Richmond Court House on November 13, 1787.
