Bonita Canyon is a box canyon on the western slope of the Chiricahua Mountains in southeastern Arizona, opening into Sulphur Springs Valley as one of the main sheltered corridors in this volcanic landscape. Volcanic tuff caps its walls, while Bonita Creek runs along the north side of its narrow valley floor. Wild grasses, oak, and Arizona cypress make it a greener pocket within the surrounding high desert. The canyon supports mountain lions, bobcats, black bear, mule deer, many birds and reptiles, and even occasional jaguars. It is now part of Chiricahua National Monument and includes the Faraway Ranch Historic District and a public campground.
