James Clark (1825-1895) and Margaret (Bragg) Clark (1826-1908) settled in the Sabathany Community in 1865 and adopted the primitive burial ground on their property, later donating it to the community. Their son J.T. "Bud" Clark (1864-1940) inherited the property in 1883, and locals began calling it Bud Clark Cemetery. The oldest marked grave is that of John Steele, who died in 1870, though ten unidentified graves marked with native stone also exist. In 1980, descendants of the Clark, Steele, and Whitten families officially formed the Bud Clark Cemetery Association. The historic burial ground is the only physical reminder of the once-blossoming Sabathany Community.
