Luther E. Hall was born in 1869 near Bastrop and served as State Senator from 1898 to 1900, State District Judge from 1900 to 1906, State Appellate Judge from 1906 to 1911, Louisiana Governor from 1912 to 1916, and Assistant Attorney General from 1918 to 1921. He died in 1921 and was buried in Bastrop cemetery.
