In 1827, Thomas W. Farrar carved poetic lines on a boulder at Lover’s Leap. Farrar was the founder and first Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge in Alabama in 1821-22-24. The site was donated to the public by Jones W. Schwab in 1935, and the work and fence were provided by Thomas W. Martin and George B. Ward.
