Aldridge Botanical Gardens is a 30-acre garden in Hoover, Alabama, on the former Aldridge Estate, known especially for its extensive hydrangea plantings and its ties to regional horticulture. The property became associated with nurseryman Eddie Aldridge, who bought it from the Coxe family in 1977 as a residence. Eddie Aldridge and his father, Loren L. Aldridge, found and patented Hydrangea quercifolia 'Snowflake,' a double-flowering oakleaf hydrangea that helped define the garden’s identity. In 1997 the property was conveyed to the City of Hoover and dedicated to the public. It now includes a five-acre lake, walking trails, and educational programs managed by a non-profit organization.
