Jacob Hunter entered U.S. service from Boone's Station in 1780 during the Revolutionary War. He served there as a garrison guard and as an Indian spy, and under George Rogers Clark took part in raids at Old Chillicothe and Piqua. He marched with Benjamin Logan to reinforce troops at Blue Licks and joined the battle's survivors in burying the dead. Around 1817 he moved to Owen County, lived on Big Twin Creek, and died and was buried there in 1856.
