General Butler State Resort Park is a 791-acre Kentucky state park near Carrollton in northern Kentucky, named for General William O. Butler, a veteran of the War of 1812 and the Mexican-American War. It combines lodging and outdoor recreation around Butler Lake, with a lodge, cottages, campground, swimming pool, trails for hiking and mountain biking, and lake access for fishing, canoeing, and paddle-boating. A major historic feature is the Butler-Turpin State Historic House, built in 1859 in the Greek Revival style and operated as a museum with original furnishings, documents, family objects, grounds, and cemetery open to visitors. The park also once included the Ski Butler! ski area, open from 1981 until the winter of 1997–98.
