The American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora in Miami is devoted to the history and culture of Cubans who left the island after the rise of communism, especially those who settled in the United States after the 1959 Cuban Revolution. Founded in 1996 by Ofelia Tabares and other Cuban-American leaders, it began as a museum without walls before opening its Miami building in 2016 and formally launching in 2018. Its exhibitions and events explore exile, memory, identity, and life under the Castro regime, including major presentations on Celia Cruz, Operation Pedro Pan, and a permanent installation centered on freedom and the experiences of those who fled Cuba.
