The New York Stock Exchange Building in Lower Manhattan has served as the headquarters of the exchange on its Broad Street site since 1865, with the present complex formed by the main Classical Revival building at 18 Broad Street, built in 1901–1903 to designs by George B. Post, and the annex at 11 Wall Street, completed in 1922 by Trowbridge and Livingston. Its monumental marble facade, Corinthian colonnade, and sculpted pediment made it an architectural emblem of Wall Street, while its vast trading floors and advanced communications, power, and mechanical systems supported one of the world’s largest stock exchanges. It remains both a working financial center and a landmarked symbol of American finance.
