Originally called Pennville, Grampian was served by the Grampian Hills post office from 1833 to 1892, when it became Grampian. The county’s first rural mail delivery began here in 1900 with carrier E.A. Spencer. In the 1820s, Quaker pioneers built a log meeting house at the Friends Cemetery site. Grampian was also the home of Nora Waln, born in 1895, a famous novelist and World War II correspondent who was named distinguished Daughter of PA.
