The Bent And Twisted Metal Before You
Military
Part of the original antenna from the North Tower of World Trade Center 1, destroyed on September 11, 2001, was given to Gibsonburg by the New York/New Jersey Port Authority. This bent and twisted section is 35 feet 10 inches long, 7 5/8 inches in diameter, and weighs 7,000 pounds. It rests on the shoulder of a welded stainless steel scale model, 1 foot = 100 feet, of the new WTC I, symbolizing rebirth and resurrection. The new WTC is 1776 feet high, marking the birth of the nation, and the model is 17.76 feet high. Two benches at the same scale, 2 feet by 2 feet or 200 feet by 200 feet, represent the foundations of WTC I and WTC II and are geographically oriented in relation to the new WTC 1 model.
