Oakview Hall opened as a ladies' dormitory and housed 40 co-eds. It had running water from the start. Ladies could receive callers, in the presence of a chaperone, on the first Monday of each month between 7:00 and 10:00 p.m. When fire destroyed it on February 1, 1935, Oakview was the oldest building and the only frame building on campus. It was given in memory of Dr. Edwin L. Setzler.
