Before 1900, Indians, trappers, and emigrants traveling between Boise and Glenns Ferry used a more direct route that followed close to a line of hills bordering a broad, rolling plain. The route provided water and grass essential for horses and oxen, and it offered a spectacular view of Boise valley. Part of that road still can be seen at Bonneville Point, 5 miles from here.
