West Aliquippa was the boyhood home of composer Henry Mancini, who wrote scores for more than eighty movies and won four Academy Awards and twenty Grammy awards. Born in Cleveland, Mancini lived at 401 Beaver Avenue and graduated from Aliquippa High School.
