Founded by George and Harry Doumas in 1919 as an ice cream parlor, the Sugar Bowl grew into a full-service restaurant, and its building underwent five expansions and several renovations. George's son, Robert, took over ownership in 1972 and operated the downtown landmark until selling the business in 2016. The Sugar Bowl is the oldest continuously operating eating establishment in Otsego County.
