Old Lexington Baptist Church, originally known as Saluda Baptist Church, was established in 1813, though worship began nearby as early as the late 1700s with camp meetings. Early services were held under a brush arbor, and the first sanctuary was built of logs. Rev. Joseph King was the first pastor. A second church was constructed in 1852, and the church was renamed Lexington Baptist Church. In 1877, the congregation was dismissed from the Edgefield Baptist Association to become a founding member of the Lexington Baptist Association, in which it remains the oldest church. The current church was built in 1953.
