This twenty-acre historic site in Monroe County, Kentucky, centers on the Old Mulkey Meetinghouse and its cemetery. Built in 1804 as Mill Creek Baptist Church during a wave of religious revival, it is the oldest log meetinghouse in Kentucky and a rare survivor of the state’s early frontier period. Founded by pioneer Baptists from North and South Carolina and led by Philip Mulkey, the church later took his name. Its twelve-cornered, cross-shaped design and three symbolic doors make it architecturally distinctive. The adjoining cemetery contains many pioneer and Revolutionary War graves, including Hannah Boone, linking the site to early settlement and worship in Kentucky.
