Too Close for Comfort Site, or Wahkpa Chu'gn, in Havre, Montana, is a buffalo jump that preserves evidence of communal bison hunting and changing Native lifeways on the northern plains over many centuries. Artifacts link the site to three cultural groups: the Besent peoples from about 2000 to 1500 years ago, the Avonlea peoples a few centuries later, and the Saddle Butte peoples until about 600 years ago. Discovered in 1962 by John Brumley, it was excavated in the following decades and, beginning in 1992, managed as an experiential archaeological site open to the public. It joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
