Walker Creek Recreation Impoundment was built under the Little Kahawha Resource Conservation and Development Project by the Wood County Parks and Recreation Commission and the Little Kanawha Soil Conservation District with the assistance of the Soil Conservation Service of the Department of Agriculture in 1978. Its drainage area is 2693 acres, total storage 1270 acre feet, water surface area 48 acres, height of dam 375 feet, and volume of fill 185,000 cubic yards.
