Mess Hall c. 1920-1929
Military
1
When the Soldiers' Home opened, veterans cooked for themselves in their cottages. Later, cooks were hired to serve meals in one cottage of each row. Around 1920, the Mess Hall was constructed as the most efficient method of serving meals at the Soldiers' Home. In 1929, as the Soldiers' Home population dwindled, the mess hall closed and all meals were served in the hospital dining hall.
